Bristol Bronze Club. July 10th-17th

A one week bronze casting work shop, where you will learn an introduction to lost wax bronze casting, using the ceramic shell casting technique.

This course is more in-depth intermediary course and allows for more ambitious projects, then 2-3 day courses. It also allows for artist to bring waxes from home to be worked upon so as to use this time in a more art production-based mannor.

Day 1: Introduction to Bronze Casting, overview of process and intro into wax

Day 2: Carry on wax working

Day 3: Put wax patterns on to trees, start investment.

Day 4: Lay day, finish off investing ceramic shells. rest a little

Day 5: Casting Day, Burnout ceramic molds , pour bronze.

Day 5: Breakout moulds, Fettling and chasing

Day 6: Patination, finish works, display

The days are taught in small groups to allow as much contact time as possible. You'll learn an overview of the foundry process while creating your own sculpture.

Come with or without skills, this course is geared for intermediate skills but allows for beginners as well.

Please note there will be a dog in the workshop.
